The Social Advocacy Youth for Peace is the one of youth run organizations functioning within Rwanda. SAYP has a purpose to develop the social life, rural development and the capacity building of Rwandan youth. The SAYP is the organization without money purpose, of volunteers, not based on the politics, which is non governmental. The SAYP is founded by Rwandan youth from Nyaruguru and Nyamagabe districts in southern Province of Rwanda.
SAYP occupies in different activities; education, agriculture and rearing, the health, water and hygiene, forests and environment.
SAYP is an innovative youth run non-profit organization which equips young people with knowledge and skills that enable them to directly get involved in improving their communities livelihoods.
SAYP employs a ‘leveraged impact’ model. We believe that young people have enormous untapped potential and can be very effective in instigating positive change in their communities. Our work involves training and supporting young people so that they are empowered to then instigate positive change and train their peers on vital development issues. SAYP also identifies specific and urgent areas where young people are seriously being disadvantaged and receiving little attention and where it’s work alone may not be enough to empower those young people to a level where they could bring about significant change in their communities.
SAYP’s response has been to create projects focusing on the needs of these groups of young people, capturing common interest and also training them about the issues and to create community projects. In effect SAYP acts as an instigator in these situations as well as providing training support.
Young people all over the world are making a difference through action projects, advocacy and other means. At Social Advocacy Youth for Peace (SAYP) we believe that the success and the achievements of young people need to be highlighted. Through this we hope that others are going to be inspired to 'be the change' that they wish to see while world leaders recognize that the youth of today are the largest untapped resources for
development and peace.
